Default Timing-belt replacement day

Well I dropped off my daughters A4 this morning for the dreadful timing belt change and likely water pump.

I just hope there is no surprises.

The shop, luckily for me is essentially across the street and specializes in Euro ****. They do have a very good Yelp rating and personal testimonials, and there price is quite fair as i called around to many qualified shops.

They do know Audi's so we shall see.

There are 6mm crank pulley bolts that can be a headache to get off. If the shop runs into this it'll require more time to complete the service and may charge you for the extra labor.

The T belt change went great. They did the work for around $7 bills and less time than quoted. Water pump was tight and sound with no indications of going bad.
They even changed out a light that was faulty w/o charge

The didn't replace the water pump......? I sure hope i read that wrong.

There is no way to check or gauge the life of a water pump. All they can do it tell how it feels right now... That could easily change in a day or a week.

Number ONE cause for failure of a timing belt driven car is the water pump.

So, like i said i hope i read it wrong...... Or you can hope that shop specializes in valve replacement and gives you a good price on that as well

Probly a foolish move but yes... my friend, you heard right...

btw, i saw my daughters bill and it totaled $616.00 (not $700).

Very fair deal IMO
X crossing fingers for tight water pump for years to come.
