Unhappy 2009 Audi A4 2.0t engine failure due to tensioners and chain failure

my timing chain tensioners on my 2009 audi a4 avant just caused a major engine catastrophe with repair estimates of 10k, I purchased my 2009 Audi Avant from Audi Willow Grove in Willow Grove Pa., and ensured that the oil consumption repair had been done with the previous owner, so i thought i dodged the oil consumption bullet, only to be caught by the second engine timing chain tensioner failure bullet. I also looked at books and records as the previous owner had the car serviced at the dealership that he purchased the car from, and also traded the car back into the very dealership that the car was purchased at, and i bought the car as a second owner clean carfax and autocheck histories, having had no accidents, with dealer books and service records, I had a check engine light and service done on the car less than 7k miles at the dealership 5-6 months ago, my oil change and service light just came on only to have the car stop on me and the diagnosis of the need for a new motor and a 10k repair estimate, can anyone here please advise and to either a good used CAEB 2.0T motor for sale, a good attorney that has successfully dealt with and or negotiated a successful client fix here in the state of georgia, and or a class action that i can jump in on....thanks

I think being you were able to put 7K miles on the car after you purchased it would relieve the seller from any liability. So unless you can prove that the caused the issue then you may not have a case. Also what was the mileage on the car . It is apparent that the PO did not have the timing chain and tensioner replaced when they did the piston/ring oil fix. This would have been the logical step once the engine was apart. It appears the PO didn't trust the car after the fix and traded it in to get out from under it. Spemd the money to talk to a lawyer and see if they can do anything. As for a replacement motor go on to the net and look for a parts searcher to find you one. My bet is they are available. Good luck

My wife's 2012 Q5 has the same failure at 72K. Serviced meticulously at the dealership with audi care, and this thing just fails. Turns out we're not alone. There are so many others have experienced the same problem (VW as well) at 70K-80K. Sounds like another Audi's design flaw. Class action alw suit any one?

My bet is that the TSB for the oil consumption does not include replacement of the timing chain and tensioner. SO using a worn timing chain assemble will accelerate it's failure. Normally the unknowable owner won't tell the dealer to replace these parts because they didn't want to pay for Audi's oil issue. This seems to be the result on high mileage motors considering the timing chain usually last up to around 100K miles.

By the way I see an Advant down the road from me that you can buy the whole car for under $10K.

I was looking at the new 2017 A4 but after reading tons of problems in this forum, I'm staying away from Audi. Shame, I really like the car as well as the Q5.
