Default A4 B8 Oil Change Frequency

I just got a 2013 A4 and I noticed that the oil change frequency is 10k (after the initial 5k interval). Considering it's a turbo and despite synthetic, this sounds like a really long interval.

What are people with the 2.0 turbo doing or recommend? Should I add an extra oil change in between the recommended 10k to make it every 5k? As an investment protection, this seems pretty cheap.

I would go with it as recommended. I had a 2003 A4 that I used the recommended 10,000 miles, and it did fine, engine was clean inside when the timing belt maintenance was done, and never had any problems in 150,000 miles. BTW, I just got a 2013 A4 myself.

Change it when the oil warning light comes on. That should be around 4500 miles if you are lucky. Good luck.

I am keeping my 1.8t customers on 5k intervals because of the notorious sludge problems, but my 2.0t fsi and newer 2.0 TFSI customers are all running 10K intervals and we have not seen any issues.

I believe this is because the newer 2.0t were running synthetic oil from the factory and the earlier 1.8t's ran mineral based engine oil every 10k which broke down and created sludge.

Just run a good quality VW502.00 rated oil and OEM MANN filter and you should have no problems.
