Advice sought on major warranty job
Hi,
I bought a new A4 sedan in October 2010, so 14 months old with 11,000 km. The car has always used a lot of oil (and blows sooty exhaust). Now Audi tells me the pistons need to be replaced.
Is this a bad thing in such a new car?
Is this work likely to affect performance or resale value?
Do I have any claim to have this car fully replaced rather than repaired?
I'm a mechanical klutz so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Glad to here Audi is stepping up and is going to fix your problem. Just make sure they use all new parts. Its not going to hurt the resale value as long as the work is all done by Audi. If it contiues to have the same problem after the repair then I would try to get them to replace the hole engine with a new one . good luck.

anyhow, i don't think it will adversely affect the re-sale value at all. accidents really drop down the value. i'd keep the car because the engine will be flawless after they're done with it. something like this doesn't show up in a carfax. i'd think of this as a free engine rebuild. bonus.
