Hello all, I am a newbie to this forum that is interested in buying a used 2009 Audi A4 Cabriolet. I have read that there was a recall on the 2.0 litre engines because of excessive oil consumption and I wonder if there is a website that a person can enter the VIN and if it show if the engine was replaced by the factory. Or if a person can go to an Audi dealer and they could look up the history of the vehicle. I would also like to know when the 2.0 litre changed the screw on oil filter to the top of the engine. I like that feature. Thanks too all in advance.

 

There was never a recall for oil consumption but if you whined long and loud to Audi, had an engine under certain age and miles, and they tried the other fixes first, they MIGHT replace the engine. I was out of luck due to high mileage. If it was replaced under warranty any Audi dealer should be able to pull of the car history by VIN and advise.
