Default Gen 6 ipod not working?

When plugging my 80gb classic (6th generation) in, it powers up and appears to be charging but never "connects". When checking the audi site they seem to say that only gen 4 and 5 are compatible? Could this really be? Anyone else having this problem? Amazing that the latest greatest ipod model is not compatible with the latest greatest audi

I don't know where the iPhone falls into that category, but I plugged a friend's iPhone into it and it didn't work, the phone said it wasn't compatible and the MMI didn't even say it was connected. Don't know if this helps but I have to buy myself a gen 4 or 5 now..

The cable could be defective or something, happened to a cable I had.
Yes you're right, you need to go back to the dealer and get the ipod adapter that is blue on the part that the wire reaches the adapter, thats the 6th gen one you need they should be able to swap it out.. good luck
