The cable that plays music from ipod only fits older models so I bought an adapter for connecting the iphone 5. I'm a college student and drive my friend to school too which is almost 2.5 hours away but he has an android phone which doesn't take the ipod connector. Is there a way of playing music from an MP3 device like android. I've seen many questions but couldn't find an exact answer. Please help.

 

I believe that if you get one of these, your Android will work. Others will soon chime in if I am wrong.

 

Just buy the appropriate AMI adapter: . This is a 3.5mm adapter that will work with basically any portable media device. The only downside is that you cannot control the device from the Audi AMI/MMI interface, and the device won't be charged.

 

i have iphone 5 and you can use the adapter....but i like to just use the audio so i can play pandora and other apps. i just got this car so im not sure yet but you can only access your ipod music using their cable right? you cant access your other music apps or youtube (?)


so what i did was buy a longer extension cable, like 4 ft long....and im planning on bringing it outside my dashboard. would this work fine? meaning closing the dash/glove with a cable hanging out?

has anyone done this?
