Hi Guys,
I've had these two issues since the car was almost new. Car is a 2.0 TFSI 211PS which is now 2 years old but with only 14,000 on the clock
1) An intermittent slight grating noise. This is evident after a journey when the engine is still ticking over. It only lasts for about 5/8 seconds which doesn't give time to lift the bonnet and try and locate it. It sounds rotational and probably something like a pulley, tensioner, alternator, water pump. It doesn't happen all the time and is more evident after a long journey. Anyone had any problem with any of these components?
2. An Unusual exhaust rattle/resonance/vibration. Again this happens when the car is hot and ticking over after a journey particularly a long journey. It sounds rythmic. On short journeys it tends not to happen. Switch the engine off and re-start it and its gone but comes again when the engine is hot. (It's not the usual tinging of a hot exhaust).
Audi accept these issues but haven't been able to sort them. The intermittent grating noise is fair enough but hopefully the component doesn't fail before we can isolate it. The exhaust has got them "baffled". They've changed one box ad say they have changed the catalytic converter?
Anyone got any ideas?

Hi..just wondering to see if you were able to find the cause of the noise? i have an A5 2.0T and have the same issue. would appreciate some pointers

As you state, it only occurs after the car gets warm.

My 2012 with 900 miles on it makes a grinding sound when accelerating hard. This could be similar. Does anyone know what this might be? It sounds like it's related to the turbo.
