Do you know the TSB number? Thanks.

Took my car into the dealer last Friday. They re-ballanced all (4) tires and sent me on my way. My B8 is my wife's daily driver so I haven't had a chance to drive it on the highway yet. I'll keep you posted if the vibration comes back...

I don't have the TSB number, but the dealer will be highly aware of the problem. My vibration came back slowly over the last 600 miles and is just like it was before.

You'd be surprised... This dealership I went to basically told me when I hear or see a problem that I'm nuts (also had an A/C issue they couldn't hear until I recorded it on my iPhone and played it back over the car speakers at a louder volume for them). I had this problem months ago and was basically told I was making the problem up in my head.

sounds like you need to go to a new dealer.

Default engine vibration issue

i just went to audi chandler to have my vibration issues taken care of with regards to going between 65-80 miles/hr and said they would install a controller to fix the problem this coming thursday. anyway, the other problem that i have is that whenever i accelerate from a dead stop or even at highway cruising, i always feel the engine vibration going to the gas pedal, steering wheel and the entire cabin. what do you think it could be from? could the controller fix this issue? or is it more of an engine problem itself.

What kind of controller fixes a vibration problem? I postponed by service appointment but will be taking it in the next month for this problem.

I have had the same problem for a while now. Along with the steering wheel vibration that happens when I turn the wheel from lock to lock while moving slowly i.e. parking. I filled all this and more out on a survey for JD Powers and last month I got a call from Audi USA asking about the cat and it's problems. I was told this....

Audi are aware of both problems on some B8 models. The steering wheel vibrations at slow speeds are being looked into but they have no idea when or how it will be addressed.
As for the whole car vibration... On my car sometimes when I put my foot down it feels like the gearbox won't downshift and then the whole car vibrates like I'm in 6th gear trying to go up a hill! They said this problem has been fixed with a software update that my dealership can perform at any time with no charge. Apparently the update changes the gearing and shifting.

I have not had a chance to take it in yet but will update when I do.

thank you for bringing that software update asinla. i guess i'm not describing my problem quite well. i do have a vibration on the gas pedal everytime i accelerate either from a dead stop or during on a highway cruising, it's a bit intrusive which i think i could live with but it's not something that i wanted to be there for a car that's worth 40k. i would say it has something to do with the cvt transmission which i'm not sure either but i found out that everytime i manually downshift the gear the vibration would go away from the 5th on a 30mph to a 4th on the same speed. hopefully i would be able to fully describe it in detail with the service personnel when i go there tomorrow morning.

as for ryanc, i absolutely have no idea on that question sir. i just happen to read on some of the forums that they somehow altered the control arm bushing on US model and replacing them by the model that they use in germany, so hopefully that would resolve my vibration issues. i'll let you know what happens tomorrow.

There are two recognized vibration issues with 2009 B8 A4s and neither is software or tire related (unless you actually have a wheel balance problem, of course). One is the low speed "shuddering" that occurs on certain surfaces at very low speeds. The second is the 65-70 mph high speed vibration noticed in the steering wheel that you describe.

AOA has informed me that Audi in Germany is working on the problem and they are focused now on the design of a steering system hose. This week, an AOA Management representative told me they will eventually have a TSB fix for this once they are certain they tested and are certain they have solved the problem.

The high speed vibration is also an Audi recognized issue and they now have a TSB out that addresses this. After the dealer has force balanced the wheels and if the problem persists, they are to contact AOA for approval to change out the lower control arms. Apparently, Audi has changed the control arms to stiffer bushings to alleviate this issue in the new arms. The 2010 A4s are using these new control arms. The only drawback is they are back-ordered on the new arms due to the demand and I was told it could take a few weeks for the dealer to obtain them for your car.

All will be covered under warranty.

I too, have experienced both of these issues and after speaking to the AOA Management rep this week, I'm hoping to have these resolved at my next service (assuming the low speed shudder issue has finally been resolved and they can get the arms in stock).

All Audi service centers should have this information. If you get any grief from the dealer, contact Audi of America directly.
