Hidden Compartment
Not sure if this is in the right forum for this, but maybe someone will help me out anyways. I would like to create a compartment in my car that is hidden from view. I have found the spot i want it but i don't know whats behind this space and don't want to go cutting up my car only to realize i can't do what i am planning. Here are the pictures (below) with the area indicated. Does anyone know whats behind this space? Is there anything inside this space to attach to? weld? bolt? screw? any information is greatly appreciated.
This is a 2003 A4 1.8T; front wheel drive; manual 5 speed transmission;

Sorry about the wrong forum. I looked before I posted for previous posts on this subject and couldn't find anything. I'm not hiding anything illegal; i have the drawers under the front seats for that, and there are about 101 other places to hide things but I need something close to me so i don't have to get up or stretch or anything. What I want to put in it is 6" tall by 5" wide and about 2" thick. My only concern is the hump under the center console which appears to be part of the metal base of the car.
If anyone can point me in the right direction of where this has been covered before, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

oh well we were trying to hide other things, but yes, that metal peice is part of the trans tunnel. I'd check under the car to make sure you won't hit anything/puncture any hoses but I' sure you could cut the piece out.
