Default 1988 90 Starting Problem

Hello, I have a 1988 audi 90 quattro that has been running fine until recently in the last day or 2 when i started it the power it had to turn over the engine slowed down.
i noticed it was harder to start today and then it just got waeker to the point where it would barly turn over, then it would just click when i try to start it and now it doesnt even click.
i had to push start the car to get home. but im not sure what i should start with? im pretty used to working on these engines as i have a 1987 audi 5000 turbo that im familiar with but this one is just a little differnt. i also have a bently factory repair manual. but i dont know where to start. any ideas?

It sounds like the battery is dead! Check the voltage at the battery terminals with the engine running. If you are getting battery voltage than the alternator is shot or there is heavy corrosion on the ground connections or some of the wiring splices.

It is also possible that it could be the starter or solenoid. Clicking noise is usually an indicator that the voltage is low.
