I usually have an OEM and aftermarket manuals and can compare them. Haynes has some good tips, suggestions and shortcuts and I will always buy one as a supplement to the OEM. The problem with the Haynes manual is that it is written primarily for the UK market first then revised and edited to cover the US models. I use to work in graphic arts with one British bloke who used to this in the 80’s when he lived in England. The problem with the Robert Bentley manuals is that most if not all the pictures and diagrams are based on the first model year. To further complicate the matter German language has a very complex grammar and translating into English is a pain. In both cases you have to figure out between the lines. GM factory service manual for full size van is crap! But the green lollipop award goes to Chilton’s – due to complexity of the work involved we suggest that you take it to a dealer or a professional. The on line or CD version of AllData is not worth it for any repairs but is good for technical service bulletins and recalls. The really good manuals are the OEM for Japanese imports. It covers one US model and one model year.

Just my 2¢!

Rhib,

My manual has a supplement that covers '87 and later, it shows a CIS E-III injection system. That is for a model NF engine. No tiime to scan too much, but it may be 5 cyl.

The earlier 4 cyls were DR and DS engines.

Really does not matter, to me. I still think the time method is the equal of the resistance check. If you prefer to show your technical superiority, go right ahead.

Cheers,

George
