Hi all, my 94' Audi 90 cs is not starting, I have checked for spark and it has. It also has had the timing belts, water pump, thermostat, belt tensioner and new plugs and wires as well. The timing belts and water pump was all done 20,000 miles ago. The fuel filter was changed not too long ago itself. when I go to start the car, it will crank and has good voltage, all the electronics work.

I do the routine maintenenace on it, and it has 172,000 miles. Just this weekend I checked all the cylinders for compression and they are pushing great pressure, in fact I used some starting spray in the intake manifold, and the car started up, but turned right back off once the spray dried off. Fuel pump? Never been replaced or looked at, how hard is this do replace and does anyone know where to get a good deal. I forgot to mention that I checked the onborad computer, (relays on the fuse box in engine), and got a 4444 code, which indicated that there is no error. Can anyone help out in the situation, would like to get the Audi on the road again, and park the rx7 back in the garage, racking up the miles.

can you hear the fuel pump cycle for a second when you turn the ignition on "not starting the car of course" if not suspect fuel pump or fuel pump relay

 

No, I really can't hear the fuel pump at all, while ignition is on. How can I check the relay?

in most cases the relay is replaced but you can hear it click when ignition is switched on or put your hand on the relay and get some one to turn the key

 

just in case your interested the 90 was dropped in 1990 and all were called the 80 only in the UK that is all though its the same car

 

Thanks for the facts and quick reply, I will check it out and get back with hopefully a good result, the info. helps out alot with the troubleshooting.I did not know that they were all considered 80's, just looking at the decals on the car itself, maybe the previous owner put them on there?
