rip that useless box out and bolt a filter to the other end of your mass airflow sensor (MAF)

Do a search for "darintake" or "swiss cheese mod" or "airbox mod" and you'll find info that'll help you with modding your intake setup. FWIW, the intake system on the car already can flow far more air than your engine needs, so the real gain from doing an aftermarket setup is the ability to hear the turbo spool more audibly, and the fact that you'll never have to buy another filter if you use an oiled cotton/gauze setup like a K&N.

Be careful when adding a new K&N, I added one about a week ago, and now the engine sputters when I floor the throttle. Everyone seems to say that it is the MAF sensor being dirty from the oil, but I took mine out, and ran electrical cleaner, and alcohol all through it, and I haven't noticed a difference. I would recommend taking the extra oil on the back of it off with a paper towel.
