ECU change
Hi everybody, I would like to know if anybody upgraded their ECU. Not just chip, complete unit. I have a unit that ends with 558T and from diac site I have found out that you can't flash it, I also have a unit that ends with 558
P that can be flashed. Is it just clean swap or do I have to rewire it?

You don't need standalone - huge hassle and huge money to get it to run a hair better than with an off-the-shelf ECU upgrade. The chips out there that people usually use are proven in their gains. Unless you're doing some crazy custom one-off turbo setup with all kinds of unique **** in it, standalone is like using a Lamborghini to get to the mailbox at the end of your driveway...to say nothing of the difficulties you'll probably have in getting the car through smog inspection (based on prior posts on the topic). There's no need for standalone control even with significant modification. Stage 3 S4s (500chp) run easily on a stage 3 ECU flash. Lower model A4s have no need for it unless maybe you're looking into 034's VR6-T conversion.
