Default Fuel Pump Fuse Blowing - 1998 A8

Hey All,

The fuel pump fuse blew 1/4 mile from our house last night. I went back today and replaced the 15 amp fuse. When I turn the key to the "on" position, the fuse blows every time.

I put a 30 amp in (I know, crazy...but it was only a quarter mile) and the car ran again.

Question: Why is the fuse blowing? There were absolutely NO warning signs for this trouble. Does it signal that the pump has a problem?

Any advice is much appreciated!

Could be the pump, or a wiring problem on the pump circuit. Disconnect the wires at the pump end and see if the fuse still blows.
