Help wanted fixing irritating problem with internal computer
I should start by explaining that I'm a complete newcomer to this forum and that the only reason I've bothered to register is because I'm hoping someone from amongst its users can help me.
I have an A4 Cabriolet which is on a FT plate. Recently, I took it to the chap who has been servicing all the cars I've ever owned since I bought my first car at the age of 20 in order for it to have its 70K service. As far as the work he's done, I have absolutely no complaints. The quality of his workmaship is exemplary and he's everything I've wanted him to do perfectly.
The problem however is this ...
Unbeknown to both me and him and as users of this forum will no doubt be aware, at 70K, the internal computer on the car triggers a series of warning messages when the car is started that can only be disabled using specialist equipment once the computer has been convinced the service has been carried out.
The cahp I use, whilst extremely competent, didn't bother to reset the computer because (a) he wasn't aware he needed to do it, and (b) he doesn't have the necessary specialist equipment.
Having spoken to Audi Bexley (A very profound mistake), I have since discovered that in order to rectify this problem, I will have to book the car in to them for a full day and be charged a minimum of £115.00 in labour. Not only this, they will need to speak to my garage to confirm the work was carried out "properly" which is frnakly insulting.
I understand that the reseting procedure is incredibly simple, and takes minutes to complete. Given that I have no desire to be ripped off by Audi Bexley, I wondered if anyone could tell me either how to reset the computer myself, or a garage in London (ideally South East London) that could do this for me.
Please help as the constant beeping is really annoying me.
