Brand spanking new to the forum. Got aquick question.

I have a 1998 Audi A4 1.8 Turbo with 162,XXX miles that was hard starting. Took it to the local shop to get the Timing belt replaced. Before I took it I had a P1338 error (Camshaft Sensor) and had the same error after.

Before the new timing belt (Which included new Crankshaft sensor, tensioner and Pulley) It was hard to start but would eventually. After getting the items replaced it was dead in the water. Mechanic (Whom I do not trust) states that the camshaft sensor is the problem however I have replaced it twice with the same results.

Ran continuity test on the wires and the wires check out. Voltage on B+ is exactly 1 volt less than battery at any given time and the 'Trigger' line shows 5 volts.

Car also will start (and run with very little power) rather camshaft sensor is attached on not. Need help as I am going crazy trying to get this car running. Is it time to replace the ECU?

I'm wondering if the mechanic installed the timing belt properly and has the cam sprocket phased properly to the crank.

sounds like you might need to start looking for a new car.
