So I bought a 2003 A4 1.8t as is from a Subaru dealership in north Jersey. The car was priced reasonably considering the issues that it had and the mileage. I decided it would be worth it to get the car and have it fixed.

I took the car to Don Rosen Imports who could give the car an overall inspection as it was leaking oil. They made it possible for me to come in an hour after I made my first call and had the inspection done within an hour and a half. The service representative that I dealt with was extremely helpful and friendly. I couldn't have asked for a better person to work with. They replaced the valve cover gasket, the cam tensioner gasket, the crank shaft seal, a faulty window regulator, and did the timing belt change as it had not been yet been done and I didn't want to take any chances. They gave me significant discounts on the service by allowing me to get it all done all at once. The car was ready the next day.

Obviously, getting all this work done WAS expensive. But that was expected, and it wasn't nearly as expensive as I thought it might be.

The service at Don Rosen Imports was great. I would highly recommend them.

Some things I wanted to add:

- The service rep made sure the same mechanic worked on the car. The time period between the initial inspection and the extensive service was only 4 days, but I appreciated it.

- The service rep was out sick on the day my car was done. Even still, he called to follow up with me on the work that was done.

- All of the work, excluding the window regulator, ended up being around $2200. This covered the valve cover gasket, the cam tensioner gasket, the crankshaft seal, and the complete timing belt service. The work took about 24 hours to be completed.
