Default Clear Bra Residue Removal

The previous owner of my 2001 A6 Avant apparently had a clear bra which was removed prior to sale. The hood showed spots of residue, which were discolorations, but not sticky. I had some fairly good results with using Meguir's buffing compound along with Meguir's wax. I used a series of micro fibers with the different compound to remove just about all the residue. After about an hour or so work, the hood in question was finished up rather well.

Overall, my feeling is that the clear bra is more trouble than it's worth. Any stone chips are less noticeable than the residue and discoloration remaining when it is removed. Others may have a different opinion.

Default removing residue

Rubbing alcohol is used for this task.

I am a firm believer in paint protection film. Just make sure to use 3M or Expel, and a very qualified installer.

No chips, scratches, or scuffs. I'd say that is definitely worth cleaning off the residue!!!!l
