Default Aftermarket Amp Problem

I have a JL Audio 500/1 amp powering a 12" W6. Every time i would play my music loud all my lights would dim a lot. My battery guagewould almost godown to 12 volts.

Things i didthese thing toTRY to prevent this:
[ul][*]Ran a 2/0 welding cable straight from the alternator to the battery and replaced the ground to a 2 gauge wire. It did help a little.[*]Since that didnt work i tried using a 10 farad cap. That still didnt work. [:@][*]And since that didnt work i hooked up a extra battery in the back. I used the same 4 ga. wire from my amp to charge my extra batt. That workedfor a little till i put the settings that i wanted on the amp then the battery would drain so low that the amp would stop working till the battery had the sufficientvolts. [:@][/ul]
And this is wherei am.
Should i use 0 gauge wire to the battery instead.
I dont want to upgrade the alternator since i have the extra battery.

OR if you guys have any suggestions please let me know!!!!!
