I have a 2011 A4 with the 30 pin AMI connector. It plays music over the MMI fine with my old iPod which has the 30 pin connector. I would like to connect my iPhone 6 which has the 8 pin lighting connector. I purchased a 30 pin to 8 pin adaptor/extension cord (which can both charge and transfer data) but my iPhone does not show up in the "source" list like the iPod used to. It does show that the battery is charging. Is there anything else I need to do go get this to work? I would like to play iTunes files and Pandora.

 

I JUST purchased the same connector at Best Buy Canada and it works just like the old one used to. I did not program anything, just "plug and play". Did you purchase an Apple adaptor or a third party type? If it's Apple maybe it's defective?
