Default Intermittent Limp Mode

Hoping someone can help me out with this issue....

I have a 2005.5 S4 (with 67K miles) and probably once a week when I crank it, it struggles a bit, and then eventually cranks but goes into limp mode. Sometimes it will reset the clock as well, but that doesnt happen every time. If I turn it off and then back on, after several times eventually it will come out of limp mode. After getting it out of limp mode it drives fine, no issues at all.

At this point, I'm not sure if I just need a new battery, or if it's something else? The main reason I think it's the battery is because it has been struggling a bit more to crank lately, and maybe this is causing it to go into limp mode?

Any thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions? Thanks!

Did you fix the problem? I had issues starting my 2002 s4 and one time it died on the off ramp of the freeway turned out to be the clutch position sensor easy fix hope that helps
