No sound from front speakers

No sound from front speakers
Greetings all,
Ended up buying a 2000 A4 1.8T quattro, basically just a commuter car nothing more nothing less as the B6 sits during winter and Jeep gets 13.5mpg
Came with an aftermarket JVC radio, weak sound but worked from all speakers, got a stock bose headunit, popped it in but get no sound from front speakers. Played with all the settings, sound from rear is crisp and clear. Popped aftermarket back in and all 4 work.
The steering wheel controls also don't seem to work, not sure if its related.

Bump,
Bought a 2nd oem stereo off ebay, exact same condition. Beautiful sound from rear speakers, nothing from front.
Toss is the pos JVC radio and all speakers work with mild sound. OEM wiring is intact and not spliced at all.
