I have read bunch of threads about this, but non of them have really help me.

I just got an A3 3.2 2007, really nice car, well maintained by the previous owner.
Everything on the car works ok expect for the radio. I does not turns on or off with the ignition. I already changed the ignition switch with no luck. Also the cluster is not showing the radio info, it is black on the top.

It seems to me i can be the head unit or maybe it needs a reboot. I disconnect the battery for about two hours and nothing happen.

Hope you can give some advises.

 

Sounds like the PO moved the radio power lead to a constant power source, so he could listen to the radio whether the car was on or off. And keep listening to it without interruption when the engine was shut, etc.

I'd try physically locating the power led to the radio first, to see if something was moved or disconnected.

Thanks for yuor reply.

I thought about that too, but I took the radio out and everything look untouched. My guess is that there must be a communication error between the radio and the car, maybe a reboot might clear all the errors. The question is how to do that.

Have you checked the fuse? I think there is a separate fuse for the radio...
