Default Sirius retrofit question

2003 A6. Is it possible to retrofit the factory radio for Sirius compatabitlity or to get a newer factory radio to replace the current one? Would like to find some way to integrate Sirius into the Audi electronics rather than get the Sirius add on.

Default RE: Sirius retrofit question

yes...very doable.

See the documents posted by Lee Hicks on his website (www.nsxjr.com). Lots of related pdfs to read through.

The hardest part will be to source a Symphony II head unit (with SAT button) on the used market. I think you can get a new one from the dealer (part# ends in N...I think)...and provide them with your current Sym II for a "core charge" discount.

The tuners can be found on ebay for about $200...and you'll need an additional $100 for antenna and misc wiring. Expect to spend $600+ on this....but it will be worth it in the end....to keep you dash clean and uncluttered.

You can also run an OEM phatbox MP3 player in conjuction with your SAT tuner for a little extra more. See my pdf via www.nsxjr.com....and the links below to my other related upgrades. I just spent the $1500 an opted for the full blown DVD-Nav setup with OEM Sirius...and it was the best $$ that you can spend on your car.
