I used the DYI, but ive got all the wired correctly spliced in the "green" and "white" wires, and amps on but i am not getting any bass. I even used the OEM conversion thing for the rca cables. Annnnd my amps always on??

If the amps are always on, then you've tapped into some constant 12V source. One of the amp's wires should be switched 12V (it'll come on when you turn on the stereo, and turn off when the stereo is shut off). That's the one you need to find, and tap into with your amps' remote turn-on leads.
