Default "In 1" flashing on the odometer screen

Hey guys, this is my first post on here, so here goes...

I recently purchased a 97 2.8Q and love it. Last week it started flashing "In 1" underneath the odometer everytime I turned the car on. I looked in the owner's manual and it says somehing about "routine service required". I was wondering what that entailed...oil change or something else that I could do myself? Also, how do I reset this so it stops flashing everytime I start her up. Any help would be appreciated!

Don't wory bout a thing. this in the inspection 1 thingy. It set to go off at a pre determined milage. Unfortunaly you can't turn it off on your own. but It only is going to annoy you for the first 20 sec. or so. Sense your new here I will let you off easy on this but please search for things like this first, It has probably been answered like 1000 times, but if you can't find what your looking for then feel more that free to ask away, Its good to have another 97 2.8 around here, there are a few of us. ANyway welcome to the forums.

Hi Guys,
I have same issue on my A6 1996. I've heard that you can turn it off with the VAG-COM? Do you know the steps?
Thanks

you need to check your car with a scanner, and i suppose vag dash prog can do with it, vag dash prog supports correction of odometer and read immo code, and also a easy to use handheld tool, for more information you can access to greebid
