Default 01 TT will not start with less than 1/4 tank of gas

Hello All,

I have a 2001 TT Quattro (225) coupe. The car starts and runs perfectly when it has more that 1/4 of gas. However, whenever the tank is below 1/4 of a tank, it has trouble starting. It seems like the engine is having a hard time turning. It only does it on the first crank and will start normally on the second crank. Once started, it drives fine. I have found that applying some gas reduces this problem.

I have taken it to a local Audi dealership and they do not know what is wrong.

I have replaced:
1. Fuel pump
2. Siphon hose

They have checked the injectors and sensors but cannot figure out why it happens.

Default Deff worth checking something cheap & easy

to fix like replacing the Fuel Filter. They are like $15.00 and easier than an air filter to replace. Then you might try cleaning it with some Seafoam, add half a can to a half tank of gas & induce the other half into a brake booster line or something that enters all cylinders. Total cost for all that is $25.00 & an hour of your time.

Or maybe the fuel level sender (part of the pump) is shot & the reason it sucks at a 1/4 or less is because your running on vapors!

Had this problem, Mine was fixed by seafoam. I assume it was moisture in the motor somewhere. Good luck!
