OK, I WAS TRYIN TO CHANGE MY BRAKE PADS ABOUT A WEEK OR 2 AGO, BUT WHEN I WAS PUSHING THE CALIPER PISTON BACK IN IT DIDN'T BUDGE. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHY? I MEAN I WAS TRYING TO GET IT TO MOVE FOR ABOUT A HALF HOUR... USING A C-CLAMP AND IT NEVER MOVED. AND ALSO, IF I REPLACE MY FRONT PADS WITH EBC'S AND THEY DON'T HAVE THE SENSOR WILL THAT EFFECT MY CAR IN ANYWAY?? THANX, ANY INFO IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.

 

are they front or rear? the rears need to be turned in

 

if it is the fronts it could be a frozen caliper or a bad hose. disconect the hose from the caliper and try it. if that doesnt work it is the caliper

 

thanx, i tried the rears first so as of right now i know its the rear caliper. i didn't try the front cause i didn't have the pads with the sensors.

The rear caliper's pistons need to be twisted AS they are being pushed back in. A C-clamp and a BIG-***'D adjustable wrence will do, in a pinch (takes, maybe half-an-hour/caliper), but, with teh caliper tool they go back in in about 5 minutes or less...

You can prolly find it on eBay for $10-$12.00 less than Harbour Freight has it. Once you get one you'll wanna do EVERYBODIES brakes, just for teh sheer joy of being able to puch teh caliper back in so quickly... And (like me) wonder how you got by without one for so long

BTW, teh fronts DON'T need to be twisted in, but the tool still makes short work of pushing themback in, nontheless...

 

nice.... never knew they did that. i'll have to try it this weekend. as for the fronts i'll try and see if they go in, haven't messed with those yet. thanx alot.

 

don't knwo what kinda auto parts joints yuo got where your at, but, AutoZone, around here, loans tools out, and tehy have teh brake-caliper tool I showed you...

But, that's around these parts...

 

thanx, yeah they have it, last time i tried changing my brakes they had one, its like $50, but they keep it as collateral til you bring it back.
