Default 1990 Audi 80 Not Starting

Okay here is my issue. First off I have never worked on an Audi in my life, but I 'have' worked on cars long enough to know that you need several critical things to make a car run. Air, Fuel, and Fire. I bought this car with no timing belt on it (thankfully its a non-interfearance motor) so that was the first thing to tackle. I'm 99.9% sure that it is timed just fine due to the compression im getting. The distributor is timed up okay and delivers a VERY hard spark. I removed one of the feul lines from the fuel distributor and it pumps out gas. And the air filter is nice and clean. It still does not start and I cannot for the life of me understand why.. I have noticed that it Reaked of gasoline when i first turn the key and believe me I know 100% there is no gas leak on the motor, so i can only believe I am smelling it comming back through the intake.. someone please assist me before I 'Make' a gas leak and set the car on fire..[:@]
