Default 1995 A6 2.8 wont start, no spark

1995 Audi A6 Quattro,2.8, 5 Speed, 250,000 miles

My Audi wont start and doesnt have spark. The timing belt and water pump were replaced at 247,000 and ran fine until 12/13/12. I drove home for lunch, when I tried to start the car to go back to work, it wouldnt start. It cranked over fine. I check to make sure it was getting gas, and it was. I unhooked the battery for about 45 mins and still no luck. I pulled a plug wire and put a spark plug in it and didnt get any spark. I then starting tapping different components under the hood lightly with a rod, coil packs; igniter, ect. Then it started up.

It ran fine until the morning of 12/15/12, when I went out to try to start it, it wouldnt start, it is back to not working again. It is probably a senor or something like that, if anyone has any ideas or suggestions on what the problem could be I would appreciate it.

Could be that the coil pack/s that the wires connect to is going bad. Any check engine lights?

I will check on that wire, I didnt even think of it being a wire. As for check engine lights, only one I have is the IN 2 light, and it has been on for a couple of years now. I need to find one of those engine readers.

Default Engine Code 2113

I finally was able to get a code off of my car. I didnt use a engine reader, with my car you can jump a couple connectors with a paper clip, when you pull the paper clip out the MIL light will blink to tell you the fault code.

It kept on repeating the code 2113, which is a cam sensor. it just repeated that code and would not show any other codes. From everything I have found on the internet, a bad cam sensor will not cause the car to have no spark, is this true?

Somewhere it said when the car isnt running it will always trigger the cam sensor.

Default Engine code 2114

Today I realized that I was doing the MIL light reading wrong, there are actually 2 codes that pop up, the 2113 for Cam Position sensor (hall sensor) and the other one is 2114 that is for Hall sensor not on reference point. Diagnostic Fault Codes

Im wondering if this has anything to do with the repair shop that replaced the timing belt a few months back?

The probable cause could be:
- Timing belt broken ----- it isnt broken, so it cant be that.
- Hall sensor out of adjustment ----- not sure what this means or how to correct it
- Flywheel reference pin for ignition timing ----- How do i check this?

Any help would be appreciated.

Default Its alive!!

I ordered a cheap after market CPS off ebay for $22, put it on the car and it started up and is running again. Its good to be driving that car again!

Now I am trying to figure out how to clear the fault codes.

Thanks for the help.
