Hello everyone. New to forum and Audi. I bought my son a 1997 a4 quattro 1.8t Auto tranny, and working out some bugs. I had to have flex pipe replaced on exhaust as it was broken. While at shop where repair was done after car was back on ground and attempting to back off the lift, I pulled car out of park and into reverse. On the dash it jumped from park to nuetral but shifter still showed reverse and car wouldnt move even with accelerator pushed. pulled into drive car moved shifted back to reverse and nothing. pulled shifter down to 2 position pushed gas, PRND432 on dah turned all red and doesnt show the selection position but reverse and drive work now. The problem is car shifts fine under hard acceleration but with casual cruising speeds doesnt seem to want to upshift past 3 or fourth. Taching around 3 grand at 60 mph. Any one have any knowledge they could share as I have only now ever heard of a sealed tranny. Also worried a little but feel ok as there are no slipping issues and when it does shift it seems smooth. Hey everyone well I have read someother threads and today i checked the tcm no water present harness tcm and everything clean as a whistle. I also found a loose wire under the coolant resevoir its a pin type plug with purple colored cap.
