Default 2003 A6 Auto Door Lock

Having continuing problems with my "auto" door lock function. This feature that automatically is supposed to lock the doors when you get over "x" mphworks intermittent at best. I took it to the dealer a couple months ago and they programmed it ($125 of course). Since then, the feature works only sometimes. There appears to be no reason as to why it works sometimes and not others. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. --Collin

There is probably a problem with the signal for vehicle speed. If the central locking module doesnt get the signal it wont know to lock the doors. Unfortuanatly i dont know if the speed signal comes from the tcm or the instrument cluster. Another possiblity is that the module is going bad and for some reason isnt always locking the doors when it should. Check for faults in the locking control module.

depending on the model and year will dictate where the speed signal comes from... it does start from a speed sensor and goes to the gateway. gateway sends it out to what ever module wants it. its sent along a CAN wire... so the signal missing along the wire isn't gonna be the problem. the signal missing all together would effect more than just autolock.

you'd have to be able to inspect the central locking/ comfort control modules for coding... you said they did it before. if this is done correctly. the only thing that can disable the function is a fault in the module.
