2008 A3 2.0T timing belt or chain
Hi all,
I have a 2008 a3 2.0T FSI and it has around 112k miles on it and I have seen on a service interval chart that around 105/110k they are supposed to have the timing belt replaced. I called the dealer where I have it serviced and they suggested the same thing. A few questions about this particular year and the service advisor we to "verify in an audi database" whether this particular vehicle has chain driven or belt driven timing and to my surprise he found out (using my VIN) that it was CHAIN driven timing!
I was surprised and somewhat relieved that I wouldn't have such a huge maintainence bill. But still thought it was odd because though this year was a switch-over year several other forums made me doubt (they were talking about TSI vs. TFSI and such) I called another service advisor at another dealership and he said the same thing about in his database it having a timing chain.
I went back to the forums and got more conflicting answers.
I am on a quest for the truth.
