2010 a4 p0299
Hey all, new here and new to Audi. Hondas and Detroit muscle are my area of expertise. Got a 2010 A4 with P0299, turbo underboost code, been to the dealer 3 times, still not fixed...now they want to replace the turbo due to finding an internal crack using a boroscope. I've seen many posts regarding this code. Does turbo replacement sound legit? They want 2600 bucks out in San Francisco to do this job. Vehicle drives ok, has about 70k on it now, regular maintenance, I do drive it hard but heck its fun!
Bypass valve has been replaced, light came back on ten minutes after leaving the dealer.
Any additional insight would be great.

i have a 2006 manual audi a4 2.0t with 70,000 miles. just pulled a p0299 code. a couple days went by and the check engine light turned off. and a week later it felt like my engine started shaking when i accelerated at about 3,000 rpms. it only seemed like it happens when i pass 2nd gear but its only when im accelerating when i rev it in neutral it doesnt happen. the shake is pretty violent and its really scaring me ! could it just be the coil packs ? need help thanks

I did a little Googling and also went to Youtube to check on what people had done to fix this particular issue. There was one fellow on Youtube that discovered the intake ducting had split on a rubber connection near one of the clamps. Perhaps you have a leak under boost that is causing the issue. I'd check the ducting from the turbo through the intercooler and to the intake for cracks or splits in the rubber connectors.
