Default A4 brake issue, help needed

2001 A4 avant, 1.8, 5sp manual

49K miles and it is running APR stage 2

Recently started hearing squeeking on the R front, and sometimes resistance, then a metallic clunk just as I pull out of the garage in the morning. Shop said the R front caliper is 'freezing up' to the rotor for some reason but couldn't tell me why.

The pads were worn--of course much more on the R front since apparently it is binding up. Anyone else had a brake issue like this with so few miles? He said it shouldn't be happening for sure.

I'm already going to be in for $750 for new caliper, hose and pads on both front, and don't want to continue down the replacement road chasing a mystery problem. Any insight appreciated.

thanks!

Replace the caliper with a remanufactured one.
