I'm looking for some advice please.

Over the last few days, the electronic parking brake on my 09 plate A4 has been failing to auto release when driving away. It works fine when manually engaging and disengaging still.

Previous to the last few days I used to get this issue very occasionally but it's now permanent.

I friend at work plugged in his diagnostic kit and it's given the fault ABS / ESP fault code 00473 as a permanent fault code.

Trawling the internet I can find issues where the electronic brake does not work at all but none the same as mine where it works fine, just won't auto release.

I'd appreciate it if anyone can offer any advise on the fault.

Yet another example of needlessly replacing (or accompanying) a system with an electronic control instead of the tried and true mechanical system that had worked for 100 years. I swear I believe that auto manufacturers (all of them) put this crap on their products just to add to the list of things that are more likely to fail and allow them to sell more parts and/or service. Rant over..

However, it sounds like a power connection issue according the code. 00473 - Ross-Tech Wiki
