Default another car wont start thread

hey guys, so my buddy was drivin my car (97 a4 1.8t,) forgot to tell him my ignition is fucked up and you have to turn it back yourself. well he stalled the car and then couldnt get it started again, but it will push start.

so i take the starter motor out and and get it tested, it was toast. install new one...nothing. just like the dead one, no noise at all is made when the key is turned. so i took it to the audi dealership today to get the ignition recall taken care of, still nothing.

so i got back underneath the car with my ohmmeter and it is sendin 12.86v of juice to the starter when the key is turned (went off the small wire, not the battery wire of course) but its still not doin anything. but when you connect the 2 terminals on the solenoid it turns over the starter.

so after all that i went and got one of those under hood push button starters, connected it to the positive on the solenoid then attached the ground and hit the button (with the car on) and nothin still.

what next?

You may have a defective ignition switch. A common issue on that year/model. My 97 2.8 A4 did just that to me.
