I have a 2000 tt 225 and the engine management light has been on fo a while, am worried about taking it in to the garage incase I get ripped off (home improvements sucking my money dry, you know how it is). It seems to have lost a bit of power but otherwise runs fine. Sometimes when I turn it on the rev counter will bounce up and down and you can hear the engine noise going up and down as well.
My friend has a golf 4 motion and he said his did the same for a while and was something to do with the air flow to the turbo.

Anyone had the same problem?

 

Check for vac leaks, probably have one and causing your motor to do wierd ****

 

Forgive my ignorance......whats a vac leak?

 

A vacuum leak is a leak that draws un-metered air into the motor and will cause the idle to fluctuate up and down.
