B5 A4 - Is there a mid-body exhaust hanger?
OK here's the deal - I got in my car a couple days ago, kind of dropped onto the seat, and I heard a loud bang. Thought my 255 lb *** broke a seat rail or something heheh, but I didn't. However, now I hear a hollow clanging rattle occasionally when driving, usually over uneven road surfaces. Conditions are still crappy here, so it's not really feasible to be crawling around under the car. That's why I am asking here - is there a mid-body exhaust hanger or mount on these cars, which could've possibly broken when I came crashing down into the seat? It sounds almost like the exhaust (or a metal hanger rod on the exhaust) is vibrating off the floorpan or something.
Anyone know about this, or dealt with it before? TIA...

The only thing thats near the center of the vehicle is the two exhaust clamps connecting the cats to the exhaust. Some of the bolts may have come loose or its possible that one of the cat converter support bracket bolts have backed out, they look like a spring witha 13mm bolt going through it. Those are about the only things on the exhaust that can cause it, but there is three tin heat shields under the vehicle that could be rattling also thats above the exhaust piping.
Thanks for the feedback. Based on what you've said, I'd put my bets more on one of the bolts. It was definitely a loud, sharp bang, like a breaking bolt, and the occasional sound I'm getting sounds more like a pipe vibration than a rattling heat shield (had that on a few other cars in the past). I'll have to get under there when I find a bare, dry patch of ground heheh. Thanks man
