Default brake issues

Hi there this is my first post here, i have a 98 audi a6 and just recently i have run into a problem with the driver side rear brake. It seems to lock up on the wheel and wont release after i press the brake. Atleast thats what i think is happening, as im driving along my brake pedal seems to stiffin almost completely to where i cant press it anymore, it doesnt stick it just wont move. And then i get a burning smell comming from that rear driver side brake / tire. I dont seem to have the problem with any other wheels. Im just curious if this is something of a common problem or if anyone has any trouble shooting idea's or anything along those lines.

Its a 98 a6 quatro.

I've been on these boards for about 18 months, now, and that is teh first time I've heard of that!

Sounds like you need to replace the offending caliper. It's not too hard to do, as a DIY, if you've got teh correct tools...

Is that the side that has the emergency break? If so, it could be not fully released.

Both sides have the emergency brake. Thats a good point thou. The cable or piston could have somehow seized. Disconnecting the cable may release the brake. Its worth at try.
