Burning oil...no sign of leak

RE: Burning oil...no sign of leak
You really need to be bitch slapped. You can get LTFT codes, MAP sensor codes, rich running codes, EGT codes, primary & secondary O2 codes. What, you blew 2 turbo's so that's your definitive proof that they never throw a code? You just keep proving that you know nothing about how an modern Audi ECU works. All turbo's don't "blow" in the same way, there are many types of turbo failure.
I have seen a 1.8t with a failing turbo throwing LTFT codes, so there is my proof smart guy.

RE: Burning oil...no sign of leak
All,
I appreciate your input.....and the best guess was......
It seems my turbo is on the way out. Apparently, I have some boost leaks on the pressure side of the intake system. The leaks have caused my turbo to work overtime to create boost. My turbo has been overstessed to the point of failure. The center section of the turbo is leaking/burning oil.
The team at 3zero3 is recommending to fix the boost leaks and a new turbo. I will wither replace it with a stock K03 ror upgrade to a K04. Any opinions? They are also recommending a Revo software upgrade. I noticed the Revo is recommended for the B6 A4s. What is the best chip/software for the B5? And should I upgrade the exhaust system right away as well? Any opinions there?
This could turn into quite a bill, but I was planning to add software anyway.
Thanks again for the help.

Get the K04, it really not much more $$. Chips are really all around the same, I would get what chip dealer is closest to you. Revo is good stuff.
It's going to be a whole new car when you get it back!

RE: Burning oil...no sign of leak
I think I am having the same problem? What did you do and how much did you spend?
Did your car do this?
I drive a 99 A6 and right underneath my mileage b4 I cut my car on it says service oil[:@]. I am starting to wonder if there is something wrong because every now and then I smell oil when I cut the care off.
How do you know if there is something wrong with my oil pressure?
I changed the oil in my car around 80500 miles and now Im sittiing at 81700 miles or so. I also forgot toreset the oil light.
Could this be the problem?
I am not schedualed to change my oil for another 2000 miles.
I know some pretty high miles on my car right?

A6,
I don't know much about these cars, just starting to learn. I am only sharing what my Audi mechanics told me. From what I've read on other threads, a boost gauge will probably help both of us. It can help determine the root of my problem, boost leaks, which have weakened my turbo to the point of taking on and consuming oil and now failure.
I'm getting a second opinion, just to make sure. I'll end that update too.

After all these years I think I finally figured out why I was losing 1 quart of oil every 1,000 miles. There was never oil on my driveway or any burning smell.
The dealer could (or would) never tell me. Finally, I was told that the oil cooler aluminum plate was damaged and needed to be replaced. Apparently the oil passes by the coolant to lower its temperature.
Well, it's been 1,600 miles since the repair was done and I have lost very little oil. You're welcome internet!!
