CAR SHAKING REALLY BAD
I was driving the a4, its a 1.8 turbo quattro with 41k miles (2004). I dropped off a friend tonight and i as i was leaving his house. the car started shaking REALLY bad. I drove about 50 feet and the check engine light started flashing so i immediately turned the car off. Right away i checked the oil, oil looks good still at full. no leaks at all. So i start it again real quick to see if its still bad, and its still shaking.
So me and my friend went to my house to get my obd reader. We got back and i ran the engine code and it showed up as a cylinder 4 misfire. Now i was parked in the middle of a street so i started the car and drove it back to my house. the car only shook at low rpms, because of course it was struggling to get power (i know i know i probably shouldnt have drove it, but my house is close and i need a garage to work on it). I got the car back to my house and its snowing and 10 degrees out so i cant work on it now.
now my question is how can i find out whats causing the misfire? i searched and i found that a flashing cel for misfire means bad coil pack? true?

RE: CAR SHAKING REALLY BAD
Yea its most likely a bad coil, number 4 coil is the one closest to the firewall..If you really want to make sure, you can switch coils with the number one coil and see if your misfire changes positions before you spend the money on a coil..just dont let it run long as you already drove it and its hard on the catalytic converter to over fuel it. hope this helps.
