Default CATS got me Down

Seems like even though my 2003 A4 3.0L has been paid off since May of 08, I have averaged roughly 200.00 bucks or so a month in repairing this beast . Temp sensors , Timing Belts , O2 Sensors you name it , I have plopped down some 5K in repair dollars on this car...

Today's news was that I have a bad Catalytic Converter .

Are there ways of making a "bad " one good again , fuel treatments , cleaners that wont completely kill the engine etc etc ?

Or

Can anyone please tell me a good source for a replacement converter ( I may do both assuming that the other will go bad soon enough ) that is a factory replacement part ? How do I know which brand and part number is an actual authentic part and not aftermarket ? ( I was warned not to use aftermarket . Please help

I have no inspection sticker and with the readiness indicators situation , am unable to pass an inspection .

Was thinking of trying to get lower price on internet and then asking a very trusted mechanic that I know , experienced with Audi , to replace them. His price was 800.00 or so for each , so I am trying to minimize. Were there any recalls or defects with these parts , 7 years does not seem like a long enough time for these to fail , I have 115K miles ...

Calling all cars .. please help

Tom

Default time to unload

Get rid of it! The bills will only keep coming. If only I had listened to this advice! I've learned the hard way and am convinced Audi knows it's putting out an inferior product. Why else does all there warrantied items end at 50K? It's ridiculous that you can spend 50K on a new car and not be warranted beyond 2-3 years.
