Yesterday I purchased my first Audi -- a 2001 A4, 130k great shape and runs well (former Toyota owner). At acceleration starts and slow speed bumps there is a groaning that comes from the console. It sounds like it may be related to the gear shift, but am not sure. Before I tear the console apart I thought I'd see if this might be a common issue.......thanks

 

Among the strangest things I've encountered in owning cars............the groaning came from a 2x4 that someone had placed under the car next to the transmission. I can only imagine that it was there to solve a rattle problem? the transmission mounts are fine and once it was removed the groaning stopped. bizarre!
