Received a letter from Audi Canada in regards of malfunctioning of CTS – well known problem for years.
(signed by M.Trahan-same person signed for Audi America).

Spoke to the dealers and guess what?

The replacement will be done only if MIL (Check Engine Light) is on for long. Erratic temperature gauge behavior is not considered as reason for replacement.
TDC are considered only at the point of inspection at the dealership?!

I’m wondering if I misunderstand the letter, how the CTS functions or there is something I’m missing..

Please share your opinion end experience

 

if the coolant temp is faulty it will set the CEL...

if your gauge it wrong or fluttering doesn't mean the temp sensor is faulty cause it didn't set the CEL...

temp sensor's are emission equipment... it has to set the CEL by federal standards...

 

Would you suggest to change the gauge?
What does it involve?

What could cause erratic drops of gauge needle?
Seems like common and offten faced problem?

 

common if you own a TT... and it involves a new cluster.

are you having this problem... and what model and year w/ engine type you have...?
