Falling Rocks and any difference in auto glass?
You know those falling rock signs you see on road trips that you generally scoff at? Well I finally got hit by one, what are the chances? It didn't completely shatter my windshield thank god, but did dent the hood and make it nearly impossible to look out the passenger side portion of the windshield.
Anyways we made it to our families house okay, my wife and I are fine, and I'll get it fixed in town before leaving Sunday (I hope). Anyways, does anyone know the difference between the different glass types? Does anyone care? Is there a reason I should go with dealer, oem, or aftermarket glass? Is there really a quality concern here?
I came across this article https://www.windshieldrepairtech.com/faq/dealer-oem-aftermarket-what-auto-glass-should-i-buy
but I think the audiforum folks might know more.
Thanks!

The only thing issues you may have with a non-factory windshield (which will probably cost twice as much) would be minor fit issues. However, I've used SafeLite to replace the windshield in my 944 and have had no issues.
Autoglass has to pass certain safety requirements in order to even be sold so if you can get a replacement windshield for a decent price from a non-dealer, go for it. SafeLite is my choice since in most places they will come to your place and do the install.

I had a positive experience with the auto glass repair service you’re referring to. Their team was professional and efficient, and the quality of the repair exceeded my expectations. When I had a question, their support was quick to respond. For any issues, you can reach out to their customer service through the safelite autoglass customer service number, which is quite useful for quick resolutions. Overall, I found their service to be reliable and their staff to be courteous and helpful.
