Default fluttering/whistling

Does anybody know what could cause a faint fluttering/whistling sound at crusing speeds? It sounds like it's coming from the front passenger side wheel; and I can only hear it when the radio is off. All suggestions welcome.

i've got a slight fluttering sound as well, but i'm just assuming its the wind going through the grill. can you hear it at low speeds, or only on the highway?

I'm hoping it's just wind too, but I don't remember hearing it when I first got the car. I can hear it at lower speeds as long as I'm not accelerating, but it's much more pronounced in highway driving. It also seems to go away during braking. Anyway, thanks for the response...I know it's impossible to diagnose without hearing it.

Hi,

obviously not sure if same as yours,with my Audi A4, the turbo makes a slight sound that sounds ALOT like their is a police car around you somewherein the distance, though I don't hear it now that the car has been chipped, I suspect its audible when the the turbois calmlyspooling. No reason to think is problem- hopefully-an Audi mechanic and APR guy was aware of it.

Also the car makes a fluttering noise when driving at speed, at low reves it's more of a puttering noise-like when in carpark (sounds is like hole in exhuast). The guys at APR heard my car and thought sounded like had a leak (though I think it might sound cool at speed). So I'm getting my car checked for leak soon. obviously a BOOST leak no good for power. any suggestions on the leak, what might be, any good hose kits?

I think the puttering noise is a leak between turbo and cat, sound comes from there and smell exhaust fumes.

stillthink there is boost leak too so will be changing DV and getting things checked like;
vacuum hoses, MAF, plugs..
