Gearbox stiff on my A2 1.4 Tdi - any ideas?

I have just bought a 2003 A2 1.4 Tdi and the gearbox is very stiff, particularly when cold. The car has done 34,000 miles. Can anyone help? Thanks, Leonard

If it loosens up after you drive a few miles its alright. In real cold weather its normal to have very thick oil and gear lube. Severe cold can cause many strange problems that clear up in warmer weather.
